About Whole Health Institute
Established in 2020 and based in Bentonville, Arkansas, the Whole Health Institute was founded by Alice L. Walton to focus on radically redesigning the systems that impact health and well-being with the ultimate goal of making Whole Health affordable and accessible to everyone.
What is Whole Health?
Whole Health empowers and equips people to take charge of their physical, mental and spiritual health and live a full and meaningful life. It starts with your purpose, what really matters to you, and focuses on self-care together with your community and care team.
While it starts with you, partnering with community members, friends and family is crucial to your Whole Health journey. You’ll have the opportunity to explore your meaning, aspiration, and purpose in life. Get a taste by pausing to consider the current state of your health and well-being with the Health and Well-Being Reflection Tool.
We need tools to equip us in caring for our physical, mental, and spiritual health. Each of us has the power to impact our well-being. Whole Health focuses on self-care, skill building, and support with special emphasis on life balance, joy, movement, flexibility, longevity, and a general sense of fulfillment with life. Whether you’re participating in cooking courses, exercise classes, yoga, meditation, or a creative writing class, the intention is to equip you with what you need to achieve what really matters to you. Check out our Experience page for a growing list of tools and exercises.
Professional care, when needed, is still an important part of any health plan. Your care team, including medical professionals, is there to help with prevention and treatment of disease and illness. Starting with what matters most to you, your care team creates a personalized whole health plan guided by your goals that incorporates conventional medicine and complementary and integrative health approaches.
Whole Health is rooted in and sustained by our community. Together, through empowerment, equipping, professional care and your community Whole Health will help you increase your sense of meaning, purpose, and connectivity.
Why Whole Health?
There’s no question our reactive health system is ailing. Americans spend more on healthcare per person than any other nation but rank 12th in life expectancy and 28th in the top 50 of the United Nation’s list of healthiest countries.
Together, we can change this narrative. That’s why the Whole Health Institute is working to propel a collaborative movement to radically redesign the systems impacting health and well-being and strengthen the power of communities.
